Just an update from Little Harbor Bahamas. We just sailed (about a 4 hour sale) into our stopping point for tonight and tomorrow.
We had good flights on the way down. The flight from Orlando to Marsh Harbor airport was in a little 20 seater prop plane. Island airports are so fun because you just stand out on the Tarmac until you get your bags or board your flight.
We then got some groceries and took the ferry over to Hope Town to pick up our boat. The ferry before ours was literally the school ferry that takes the kids home from school. All the kids were very polite and were selling baked goods for their upcoming missionary trip. Our ferry was the shopping ferry. Apparently all the ladies from Hope Town go across every other Thursday to do their major shopping at Marsh.
At Hope Town we met our boat named Moon Doggy. It has a picture of snoopy looking up to the moon the side! This boat is not fancy but has all new sails, rigging and electronics (just not hot water). It has been the easiest boat we have ever sailed.
We left Hope Town this morning and made a four hour sail south to Little Harbor which is the southernmost Abaco island. This island was founded by the Johnson family and they have a restaurant and art gallery where they make metal forged sculptures! We are going to explore the island tomorrow. On our sail down the water was a bit rolly when Atlantic meant the Sea of Abaco. We will stay all day tomorrow and on Sunday make our way north. A boat just came up to anchor next to us for the evening and they have sailed all the way from Australia.
Everyone we have met here is wonderful and everyone in these island knows everyone. It is so beautiful, quiet and quaint.
